Then there was the Ortegas, the family that was infamous for its secrets and mysteries. Christopher Ortega and a woman named Carmelia Sanches meant and ended up marrying, having a Child who was given the name of Mateo Ortega. Soon enough, at the time MAteo turned five years old, the father ran away for no apparent reason. The Ortega family still supported Carmelia but their focus was of what became of Mateo. Carmelia always had a special connection with Julio Catalan, which eventually lead to them getting together, she not only did it for herself but for Mateo and his future, she knew the reputation and respect the Catalans have--she didn't want The Ortegas to corrupt Mateo.

They married and ended up have three children added to the family, carrying the legacy of the Catalans. Mateo Catalan was not treated as an outsider, he was Julio's son and there wasn't any other variant.

The Catalans had a family garden that was filled with life and colors of all sorts, Over the course of the years, every generation that passed by, the garden came to life, due to the love and energy that was dwelling in this place, it played the role of a guardian angel that protected the place. It was filled with birds of all kinds. Birds where very special to the Catalans, due to singing being very important in this family, for they believe that the act of singing awakens your loved ones that have perished, and once again, shall be reunited with them.

 

The Families symbol is the peacock, due to its symbolism: Vision, Royalty, Spirituality, Awakening, Guidance, Protection, & Watchfulness.The Peacock tail has the "eyes" of the stars.

As the four Children grew older, it was discovered that out of the whole family, Mateo had the most beautiful voice in all the land, which promised grand things due to having a nice singing voice meant a stronger connection with your loved ones. They would sing with the birds and to each other, which where the things that unified them. 

The Ortegas watched from afar and grew outraged over the prosperity the Catalans were having, for they have always been their rivals. And so they plotted to change the course of history. They reached out to Mateo, and tried to influence Mateo to join their side, they stated they were his "True family". 

Mateo knew that the Ortegas were trouble, so he tried to stay away from them as much as possible and focus on his TRUE family.

However he felt that he stood out, as much as he wanted to be a Catalan, but in the back of his mind, he couldn't deny the fact that he was originally an Ortega.

Everything changed as a woman by the name of Miriam Ortega, showed up in Mateos life, she was famous for her  Brujeria, which for the Catalans, was disgraceful and evil due to their Catholic beliefs.

She promised Mateo a different life,  a life where he would feel that he belongs, a king to rule above all. 

He declined the offer due to his family and his love for them, he knew they wouldn't approve of such a selfish decision.

Day by day the poor boy that got pulled back and forth from two different families who despise each other and wanted to shape Mateo into a certain shape, started to loose himself.

Tension grew in both families, Ortegas threatening Camelia for certain reasons. Roberto (the second eldest son of Julio and Camelia), started to blame Mateo for these injustice times. Mateo started to realize (with the help of the ortegas) that Mateo really isnt seen as family.

One day in the Garden of Eden (The name of the family garden), there was an outbreak between Siblings, it was Mateo who lashed out first.

He claimed that they were all fakes, they didn't love anyone and that they weren't a family, along with other curses that came out of his mouth.

The Spirit of Eden summoned herself due to the negativity and hatred that came out of the siblings, especially Mateo. As punishment for sinning in the garden, The spirit toke Mateos singing voice.

Mateo was devastated, for he lost his connection with his ancestors. Out of spite, he went to his Aunt Miriam , and seek her guidance.

And so the dark magic was initiated by Miriam, whos true plot was to use Mateo as a puppet, to gain riches and power, make the Ortegas pride rise above all.

Mateo was tired of being a side show, his pride growing and wanting to be the main attraction was a must have--adding onto that, what he held dearest to his heart was ripped away from him, which was his voice, for he is now without voice, leaving him with a raspy and gruesome tone. 

The magic did its work, leaving Mateo and the Ortegas the heads of the Kingdom of Orquidia. 

Mateo took initiative to destroy the Garden of Eden, setting fire to it, destroying an important heirloom of the Catalans and making them run for their lifes, if he couldn't have their love, then no one will, burning all the bridges that leaded to him and the Catalans.

The Newly made King toke pride in the Ortegas, which soon turned to him becoming prideful of himself, getting rid of the Ortegas, and forming a new enemy.
